Castro Ezama, the Special Adviser on Education to Cross River State Governor Prof. Ben Ayade as said more than 60% of secondary schools girls in Cross River State are not virgin.

Ezama said this during a live programe on FAD FM Radio in Calabar, While speaking on the effort of the State Government to improve the standard of education in Cross River.

According to him "There was high level of promiscuity and permissiveness amongst student in the state " 50% or 60%" of girls in our secondary schools are not virgin and this does not portrayed good image of the state and of education.

However, Grace Bassey Bakassi  Local Government Councillor representing ward 7 go against the statements saying that such statement was demeaning girl child education.

She ruled the statements which highlighted sexual issues about girls while excluding the boy child stressing that it was "totally unacceptable" and should be condemned.
